Out of Darkness
by: Steve Goody revised by: Jennifer Williams
(Revisons and updates by Steve's Request)
Isaiah 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath a great light shined.
Matt. 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death, light is sprung up. We got use to the darkness and sat down.
Matt. 5:14, 16 Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the works, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
It is pretty clear that we are not meant to hide our faith and our works from others. We have a light within us that is our Lord. God wants to receive Glory by working in you. If you are not allowing God's light to shine, you are hiding him from the world and hiding his precious gifts from those who need it most. Those that walk in darkness need to see the light of your Father shining through your actions.
Is God’s spirit in you? Do you walk accordingly? We are so accustomed to violence, murder, and a multitude of other things that we don’t give it a second thought. We watch faithfully our TV programs that deal exclusively in lust, adultery, idolatry, envy, shootings, gossip and so on that our senses have become numb to it. We have become desensitized to the darkness around us. We rent or watch movies full of violence, not to mention demons or wizards and we don’t realize that the darkness of sin is slowly killing our spiritual beings and controlling our emotions so much that we don’t even think about it. What if those things happened to you? The news is covered with stories that openly mock what we see in the movie theatre. We think about these things for a moment and then forget. We forget about the baby that was thrown out of a window. We forget about the young lady who is nearly killed in a sexual assault. We forget everything that does not happen to us. There are millions of horrible things that happen every day. Our schools are no longer as safe as they used to be, and we don't even notice.
II Cor. 6:14-18 What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion hath light with darkness.
We care more about being attractive to the world than being attractive to God. We spend our time rehearsing the facial expressions during our songs. We work on making sure we sound and look exactly like dancers and groups in the secular world. We are more concerned with skill than the anointing of God. Our activities should never replace or come before our God. If you sound terrible and God tell you to sing, you'd better sing. If you are sick and barely able to walk and tells you to dance, you'd better dance. God has reasons for his requests that we cannot comprehend. When we are weak he is stron. It is important to look up and focus on him. Our skills and abilities don't count. His presence is more important, his opinion matters more than any other. We are not to be like every one else.
Close friends and relatives will try to make you doubt what you believe. They can deceive you without trying because you want to fit in. Wake-up. Stop hiding your light. God gave it to you. Quit hiding it.
We must stand for God or we’ll fall for the things of this world. Don’t indulge in the sins of this world.
We all do and say things we shouldn’t, we make wrong decisions. Anger, haste, anxiety and pain cause us to act too quickly. We are to be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
II Cor. 6:17-18 Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

The Five Love Languages
By Gary Chapman / Moody Publishers
We all know that the greatest commandment is to love. However, relatively few of us know how to express our love in the heart language of our family and friends. Fortunately, in The Five Love Languages Gary Chapman identifies the five primary love languages and teaches us how to use these languages to express our love. Although this edition of The Five Love Languages was written specifically for couples, the basic principles Chapman explores will apply to all relationships.
